We told you that La Belle Juliette would be a place of culture, and while we wait for the restored piano to be delivered, here’s the first event, a mini-concert by Claire Galo-Place, an amazing, classically-trained harpist. With these monthly concerts we hope to recreate a little of the ambience of Juliette Récamier’s salons.

It’s not an age-old war, but rather the sign of the difficulty that composers have to marry the styles of these two wide-ranging, polyphonic instruments, with their many similarities and differences. To hear how they can be put together, you have to look to transcriptions of orchestral pieces…
