From 9am to 5pm on Sundays and public holidays, the banks of the Seine are closed to traffic: pedestrians, rollerskaters and cyclists can profit from the riverside views without worrying about cars.
- On the Right Bank, the voie Georges Pompidou is closed from the entrance of the tunnel at the Tuileries gardens (1st arrondissement) along to the Charles de Gaulle bridge (12th arrondissement);
On the Left Bank, the car-free zone is from quai Anatole France (7th arrondissement), to the quai Branly exit (7th arrondissement).
Certain other areas of Paris are also closed off to traffic at the same times: the area around Mouffetard, part of the area near the Luxembourg gardens, the rue des Martyrs, the Canal Saint Martin, and both the Parisans woods, the Bois de Boulogne and the Bois de Vincennes.
