A warm and greedy meeting !

A chance meeting put us in contact with Virginie Duroc-Danner, a lively woman whose hand-crafted chocolates are not only delicious but beautiful.

After tasting a sample she sent us (I know, we’re a sucker for good chocolate), we went to visit her in her workshop just outside Paris, a spotlessly-clean pink and purple palace for chocolate making.
The range is large, the presentation can’t be faulted, and her packaging is beautiful and original, all of which seems to have contributed to her success; indeed, the steady flow of customers meant that we hardly had time for a proper chat.

All of which bodes well for the shop she’s opening in November; for a limited period of four months only you will be able to buy her special creations in Paris (although she does have a website too). Her stylish and original packages (chocolate CDs anyone?) would make a refreshing gift for many a chocolate lover. However, all this comes at a price; you don’t get exclusive, hand-made, extravagantly-packaged delicacies like this without paying for them, but then surely her creativity and daring deserve to be rewarded.

Don’t wait too long; by the end of February 2007 it will be closed, and you’ll be obliged to order on the web (meaning you don’t get to taste a sample first!). She’s also quite a character. If you’re in Paris in the next few months and you like chocolate, you should really make the effort.
