Photos and installations where black and white rules…

Are incredibly talented people inspiring or incredibly frustrating? Hedi Slimane seems to have talent oozing from every pore, the swine. After designing clothes for Yves Saint Laurent and Dior Homme, he is currently exploring photography (something that he has been doing as time permitted over the last twenty years).

His new exhibition, Perfect Stranger, at the Almine Rech Galerie is essentially a collection of some of the photos that he took at this year’s Benicassim rock festival
for a full show in Spain in May 2008. Expect surprisingly calm shots of crowd scenes, somewhere between Mapplethorpe and Gus Van Sant (a friend of Slimane’s). Definitely the fashionista art show of the moment.

Here’s all the essential info on the Perfect Stranger exhibition by Hedi Slimane
