In 2007, our “A Hotel Photo, An Artist’s View” project – initially just web-based – grew into a photographic prize and exhibition. The first edition saw Frédéric Delangle win the 2007 grand prize, with Franck Beloncle winning the special mention decided by votes from the staff of the hotels. Each year, as well as the photos presented every month over the previous year, a special project is commissioned by an established photographer in order to show a set of completely new photos, to be discovered for the first time during the exhibition’s grand opening.

The 2008 exhibition of the “A Hotel Photo, An Artist’s View” project is honoured to be invited to the Théâtre de l’Odéon this year. For the occasion, the 2008 Special Project will be presented from Fredéric Lebain, who – thanks to his light-hearted and poetic approach – will be showing his conception of the parallels between theatres and hotels. Entitled “Décors pour un cérémonial“, the project includes photos of the Théâtre de l’Odéon, the Ateliers Berthier (the theatre’s second site) and the hotels of the HPRG group, and will be shown in the Gémier and Serreau studios at the theatre.

Un jury made up of industry professionals and art lovers such as gallery owner Agathe Gaillard, Philippe Fort, head of fashion and design for the Paris council, and Marc Pussemier of the Librairie Photographique (photo bookshop) will meet on 1st October at the Salon du Panthéon (a restaurant decorated by Catherine Deneuve) in order to decide the winner of the “A Hotel Photo, An Artist’s View” prize for best photo in 2008.

On 6th October 2008, the day of the grand opening, the exhibition will be open from 6pm to midnight in order to present the twenty-two photos. The 2008 prize-winner will also be announced and presented with a cheque for 3,000 euros. A ‘special prize’ will also be given based on the votes of all the Hôtels Paris Rive Gauche group staff.

The exhibition will be open to the public from Tuesday 7th October to Friday 24th October, Monday to Saturday from 1.30 – 6.30pm and after 6.30pm for theatregoers with a ticket for the Théâtre de l’Odéon.

The Hôtels Paris Rive Gauche is comprised of six charming hotels in Paris’ Left Bank: Hôtel design de la Sorbonne, Hôtel Jardin de l’Odéon, Hôtel des Grands Hommes, Hôtel du Panthéon, Hôtel Ferrandi Saint Germain, Eiffel Park Hôtel.
