An astutely-programmed part-outdoors electronic and rock music festival!

The Villette Sonique festival takes places in several venue at La Villette in the north-east of Paris. It’s the first of the season and always has the top names in punk-funk, retro rock and high-end electronic music.  Can’t say I know all the names, but here are a few that I’ve listened and heard of:

- Boy 8-Bit

- Jesse Rose

- Diplo

- DJ Hell

- Richie Hawtin

- Liars

- Dan The Automator (with Russel Simmins, under the charming name of Men Without Pants)

- and – of course – headliners Liquid Liquid (although funnily enough I don’t have any of their records)

The festival also has its own record fair the ‘Labels Village’ for 30-odd independant labels, a glass cube with DJs playing in it from 3 – 8pm at the weekend and workshops for kids. Something for everyone!
