Spongebob Squarepants exhibition in Paris
from 10th July – 21st November 2009

Art and Culture

Yep, you read that right. Had enough of Picasso and the Louvre? Well Spongebob Squarepants (or « Bob the Sponge » as he’s called in French) is here to lighten things up a bit, whilst celebrating his tenth birthday. As the little fella loves water, there’s no better place than the Pavillon de l’Eau in the 16th arrondissement for his first French exhibition, one that will be touring the world afterwards. Paris has it first though! Here are all the details…

The exhibition is split into two parts. First, Stephen Hillenburg – the creator of Spongebob Squarepants – revisits well-known paintings by masters such as Van Gogh, De Vinci, Botticelli and Magritte, shown side by side with reproductions of the original (so you can decide which version you prefer!).

The second part has a more ecological theme, with Spongebob telling us about how not to waste water and how we can all do our bit to save the planet.

This « cultural, ecological and really funny » exhibition (dixit the poster) is at the Pavillon de l’Eau, 77 avenue de Versailles, 75016 Paris (map here) from 10th July – 21st November (but closed from 1st – 24th August) and it’s free! Open from Tuesday to aturday, 10am – 6pm (11am – 7pm Saturdays).
