We’ve closed the Hôtel Ferrandi… for a year!
The last guests left yesterday and the sold furniture was picked up today. So, what’s it like inside an empty hotel? We have photos for you. And why are we closing the place for a whole year? Read on and we’ll explain…

The Hôtel Ferrandi Saint Germain was the last hotel to join our little group, and there were obviously some things about it that we wanted to change a little (or more precisely, completely change). As we already have a really great design hotel, a couple of super gorgeous hotels on the place du Panthéon and another in the heart of Saint Germain, we wanted to round off the styles on offer to guests by making the Ferrandi something different and special, something worthy of the beautiful neighbourhood.
In its current state, that just wasn’t possible. That’s why we’ve decided to close the hotel for a year to do major renovation. Everything, really everything will redone and the hotel will open its doors again under a new name – being kept secret for the moment – in the autumn of 2010.
It’s an exciting project for us, something that we’ve been working on for a number of months already. The blueprints are done, the interior designer has decided on the style and work starts… on 20th July! As you can probably imagin, closing a hotel for such a long time only happens when there is a lot of work to be done, and we’ll be keeping you updated with the state of the work, the decoration, and the story behind the place… because the new hotel has a wonderful story to it, you’ll see.
Meanwhile, we had a look round the hotel’s deserted rooms today, taking a few souvenir photos. The ambience of a hotel without guests and without half its furniture is very odd, slightly melancholic. You can see the entire gallery here, but a selection of the photos is below.
See you in September 2010 for the opening of our luxurious new hotel!
And don’t forget that the Hôtel Design de la Sorbonne, Hôtel du Panthéon, Hôtel des Grands Hommes and Hôtel Jardin de l’Odéon are still open for your next stay in Paris!

My parents spent many happy hours together at the Hotel Ferrandi, they loved it! My brothers and I have also been guests and we wish you good luck with the renovation. I look forward to seeing the results. Meanwhile, we continue to rank the Hotel du Pantheon as our favorite hotel in Paris!
Best wishes.

It looks like it was already a nice hotel.
Too many reasonably priced traditional European hotels close for renovation and reopen as modern hotels that could be in any city of the world.
I hope the Ferrandi doesn’t join the group of Paris hotels that reopen at double the price and half of the charm.

Hi Donna,
we already have some very reasonably priced hotels in our group, despite their amazing settings. The earlier you book the cheaper they are, and there are some very interesting special offers if you book through our site (we keep the best rates for ourselves and guarantee that you won’t find better anywhere else on the web).
The new Ferrandi requires major investment and will complete the range of styles we can offer guests. I think most people will find something within their budget if they check out our hotels. As for « half the charm » we would never do something like that. Charm is hopefully one of our strong points!
Thanks for the comment. Hope to see you soon in Paris!

Sorry to hear that the Ferrandi will be closed for a year(?)and hope the excellent staff have been found positions elsewhere in the group.
Many clients have been staying at the Ferrandi for over 20 years – will the new Ferrandi have the same beneficial rates available to long standing clients?….. and where, in the meantime when I visit Paris, do I park my car ??
