A new virtual book by our photographer friend
Jean Stéphane Cantero

This young photographer who took part in out photo project A Hotel Photo, An Artist’s View in 2007 has just published a virtual book of portraits on the Internet, containing some incredible, touching images…

Internet has certainly opened up some interesting possibilities in the last few years (and I don’t mean Facebook). Even if there’s no beating a printed, enlarged photo seen for real, photographer no longer have the obligation of hauling round a heavy book of their work in order for people to see his/her work.

Jean Stéphane Cantero contributed a great photo to our project in March 2007 (you can see it here) and also has his own site (here) of course.

However, Internet now allows us to go even further. issuu.com is a free service that allow publication of virtual books and magazines, with animated effects, simple navigation, enlarging of images, full screen viewing… The site is really well made and helps to put the spotlight on the photos with its stylish page design.

The new album of portraits by Jean Stéphane manages to impress, despite using a genre of photography that has been heavily exploited already. 35 people in black and white, mostly men (with a few women), showing the wisdom of age or the feshness of youth, close up… Even in some of the slightly sad look, a certain joy is conveyed.

Below you’ll find a small-scale preview of the album. Click on it to enlarge it to fullscreen size. Will you be able to recognise the portrait of one member of our team from the Hôtel du Panthéon?
