Bruegel, Memling, Van Eyck exhibition at the Jacquemart-André Museum until 11th January 2010

Bringing together works form the world-renowned Flemish school, the Brukenthal collection is one of the most important in Eastern Europe. For this exhibition at the Musée Jacquemart-André, fifty of its works of art are being shown for the first time ever in France.

For the first time in its history, the Muzeul Naţional Brukenthal of Romania is lending fifty of its most beautiful works for a foreign exhibition, a selection from the grand masters of the Flemish school whose works make up the richest and most prestigious art of its collection (a remarkable range of Flemish painting from the 15th – 17th century).

You can see the fascinating portraits by Flemish primitives Hans Memling and Jan van Eyck, the striking landscapes by Pieter Bruegel the Older and Pieter Brueghel the Younger, the refinement and wealth of symbolism of Jan Davidsz de Heem’s still lifes, the powerful realism of genre scenes by David Teniers, the elegance of the mythological depictions and mysterious poetry of the chiaroscuro in the religious works by Jacob Jordaens…

The exhibtiion Bruegel, Memling, Van Eyck is at the Musée Jacquemart-André (here) until 11th January 2010. Open 365 days a year from 10am – 6pm. Admission: 10€ / 7.50€.
