Inspired patissier Pierre Hermé
at the Musée Quai Branly
Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th October 2009

You know we love he delicious cakes devised by star pastry chef Pierre Hermé (our epic mille-feuille tasting session was surely proof enough). Now you can see the man himself in the flesh during a weekend at the Musée quai Branly for an event entitled “Xocoatl, Drink of the Gods! A chocolate journey with Pierre Hermé”. We’re salivating already! Here’s all the details…

You may have queued to get into one of his upmarket cake shops, but have you ever had a glimpse of Monsieur Hermé yourself? If not, here’s your chance for a hardcore session of chocolate worship! And perhaps afterwards you’ll have a better understanding of where his ideas come from?

As part of their exhibtion, Teotihucan, City of Gods, the Quai Branly museum is inviting Pierre Hermé to prepare four chocolate drinks using Mexican chocloate as their inspiration. Created especially for the event, the drinks apparently “show the history of chocolate through the ages, from the ritual drink of Teotihuacanto the present day”. Intriguing…

In any case, hopefully Pierre will impart some of his evidently immense knowledge of chocolate, and everyone present will get to taste his special drinks. Yum!

The event takes place in the foyer of the Claude Lévi-Strauss theatre at the Musée Quai Branly (here) on Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th October 2009 between 2.30 and 6.30pm. Entrance is free! Double yum!
