(Not very) private but definitely ethical clothing sale
at the Comptoir Général
from 27th – 29th November 2009

So you buy organic as much as you can, and you’re interested by the idea of organic and fair trade clothes, but the prices have put you off so far. Well, we understand completely, but this clothing sale looks like it is exactly what you’ve been looking for! A so-called private sale that’s open to everyone (an odd concept) in an interesting space that’s worth checking out, just next to the canal…

It seems the event is now twice-yearly: a ‘private’ sale of ethical fashion at the Comptoir Général, a huge and rather smart space dedicated to ‘responsible’ events with an environmental theme. Just next to the Canal Saint Martin, it is reached by going down a small alleyway from the quai de Jemmapes, leading to a building that’s worth checking out!

Over three days you can have a look round and also check out the sale of adult and children’s clothes at reduced prices. Around 20 of the most famous ethical and organic clothing brands will be present, such as Ideo and (the wonderful) Monsieur Poulet (purveyor of “original chicken clothes”, or so he says!). Actually this mythical chicken-slash-man has his own shop in the (here) that is also worth a visit.
