Tintin auction in Paris, 29th May 2010

Our favourite things

Hergé’s Tintin is still prized by collectors, nearly 30 years after the author’s death. Are you one of them? If so, get your credit card warmed up and ready to go…

Of course this isn’t the first time that Hergé’s work has got the auction houses all hot and sweaty (last year in Belgium, an auction raised 1.2 million euros!), but this sale is officially organised by the company that owns the rights to Hergé’s work, and their sales are not very often, so it’s a mini event for all Tintin fans.

In May 2010, at Drouot-Montaigne, you’ll be able to get your hands on some Tintin paraphernalia and 250 original drawings, including a rare one from The Calculus Affair that shortly before his death, Hergé gave to his hairdresser. A fine gift indeed, that is now worth between 90,000 et 120,000 €.

Other lots are more ‘affordable’ like an original edition of Tintin In The Congo from 1931, a numbered first edition stamped by Hergé himself. Get ready to shell out between 18,000 et 20,000 € if you like it…

The sale will hopefully raise arouns 600,000 euros €! If you want to participate, it’s at Drouot-Montaigne (here) on Saturday 29th May 2010 (no time given as yet).
