Solidays 2010 from 25th – 27th June in Paris.
A huge music festival and a whole lot more.

As big as any other European music festival, Solidays is France’s Glastonbury, both musical and militant, fun for adults and kids, and guaranteed chock-a-block with moving moments. Here’s the lineup and details!

The full lineup of acts playing (80 concerts in all!) is on the official site here. Many are better known to French audiences, but perhaps you know of (Friday) Wax Tailor, Archive, Kasabian, Oliva Ruiz, Hocus Pocus, Crookers…, (Saturday) Diam’s, N*E*R*D, BB Brunes, Vanessa Paradis…, and (Sunday) M, Jacques Higelon, Oxmo Puccino…

PLUS and exhibition called Sex In The City (not for under-18s!)

PLUS Silent Disco, a nightclub with no sound and everyone wearing headphones!

PLUS a climbing wall and professionals at the ready to help you up or catch your fall!

PLUS bungee jumps!

PLUS fairground rides!

PLUS a forum with debates and theatre (you might need a decentknowledge of French to get the most out of this one)

PLUS avillage with around a hundred NGOs explaining the work they do around the world, your chance to put your energy to good use!

But what do we do if we have kids with us? There’s a special kids area for 3-12 year-olds where you can leave them for the afternoon to do their thing (supervised, obviously). Free with your ticket! (NB: only 100 places available).

And if we are coming from afar? There’s an on-site campsite which costs 10 euros in all for the three days, split into two zones; Zap (for the party harders) and Zen (for the more chilled out festival-goer). Free breakfast too!

And if I’m in a wheelchair? There’s a special welcome desk with reserved parking spaces, podiums for good views of the concerts, toilets…)

And what if I’m a green warrior for Gaia? The festival tries to be as eco-friendly as possible, with rubbish sorting on-site, reusable drinking cups sold for 1 euro to encourage you not to thrown yours away, a stand about the environment, bicycles used for the fetsival crew to get around (no cars), car-sharing scheme to get there, and organic area…

And how does all this cost then? 49 € for the three days, 44 € for the weekend, 32 € for one day.

And how can I keep up to date with their latest info (like the last-minute acts added)? The official site has loads of info. The blog is pretty good too.Or there’s always their Facebook page

Solidays 2010 is on the 25th, 26th and 27th June 2010 at the Hippodrome de Longchamp (here’s how to get there).

All profits are used to finance anti-Aids projects in France and abroad.
