The Fête de la Musique in Paris, Monday 21st June 2010
If you’ve never experienced this music festival before, brace yourself: every 21st June, anyone and everyone will be making music of any and all kinds anywhere… and everywhere!
This year’s theme is « la musique au féminin » (which means something like « the feminine side of music ») but don’t be surprised if most of the groups or singers are male (as usual). Sometimes it’s enough to make you ashamed to be a man…
With events planned everywhere (really, everywhere), it’s difficult to single out one or two, but just near our hotels you’ll be able to hear bagpipes, barrel organs, flamenco, Dixieland jazz with the ‘Mad Granddads’ (good grief!), psychedelic techno, Lebanese rap, traditional Indian ragas and even… French songs at the Sorbonne!
(plus – on every street corner – rock, rock, more rock, even more rock, Hotel California, some more rock, etc. etc…)
Our favourite weird/intruiging event?
Laundry Night
From 6pm – midnight, a launderette in the 10th district gets turned into a nightclub!
6pm – House, électro, deep soul
7pm – DJ Rork and Ladybird (house music)
8pm – DJ (house music)
9pm – Inframuros (reggae).
Laverie Lucien Sampaix – 18 rue Lucien Sampaix (here).
