The 14th of July 2010 in Paris (and HD!)
for those who couldn’t be there
Couldn’t make it to the the annual firework display by the Eiffel Tower or the military parade on the Champs Elysées ? Stuck on the other side of town? Or the other side of the world? Doesn’t matter: through the magic of the interwebs we can show you the highlights, in high definition no less! Here’s our selection (and don’t forget to use the ‘fullscreen’ button for a better look)…
I didn’t know that the French Ministry of Defence had its own Dailymotion channel. For them, the 14th July is a big event, and they had a field day yesterday filming a best-of the parade (yawn) plus some more exciting footage of parachutists readying themselves to jump out of a plane and land on the Place de la Concorde…
…and (for the French-speakers among you) this film about 2010 guests of honour the Dahomean Amazons o(you may remember that India was the invited country last year).
That was early morning of the 14th July. Soon after it started to rain. Hard. For hours…
…but luckily things brightened up for the fireworks display in the evening. The Paris city council had even put of a film of the while 30-minute affair online (albeit in slightly low quality). If you haven’t got time to sit through all that, have a look at the finale at the very top of this post.
And that knocked themselves out at Disneyland Paris too apparently, with music and lighting to add that extra bit of ‘wow’…
Bonus! You probably missed (we did too) the gymnastic display by the Paris firemen at the Arènes de Lutèce. Spandex and shorts this way!
