Famous for his posters in the 50s and 60s, Bernard Villemot who died in 1989 finally get his own exhibition at the French naitonal library…
His style brings back memories of a bygone France, his work is instantly recognisable (the logo for Orangina was his creation, for example). He produced work for Bally, Perrier, Vespa, Cinzano, Air France… Bernard Villemot definately left his mark in French iconography, and this exhibition shows a selection of sketches, drawings and preparatory pieces that give a good idea of his style, refreshingly new at the time.
The artwork has been donated by his descendants, and this is a great chance to see work that helped form decades of graphic design that was to follow. Plus, it’s free!
