Only the hardcore francophiles amongst you will have heard of Patrice Chéreau before, but as Wikipedia correctly states, he is a French opera and theatre director, filmmaker, actor, producer and all-round blooming artistic genius. What a great idea then for the Louvre to invite him to devise and host his own mini festival there, with theatre (obviously) but also dance, film, a new photographic creation by the wonderful Nan Goldin and lots more…

After trying out crêpes last month, we opted for another French classic this month: the much revered soufflé ! The restaurant also happens to be named after Juliette Récamier, and is situated just near the site of her last place of residence in Paris…

Brillat Savarin , cousin du mari de Juliette Récamier, a parlé de cette dernière dans son ouvrage « La Physilogie du goût » dans un texte qui s’appelle « l’Omelette du Curé« . Il semble que Juliette devait être fin gourmet et qu’elle n’aurait donc pas renié  la Cigale Récamier. Ce restaurant porte le nom de Juliette car il se trouve là où s’élevait sa dernière demeure. Le soufflé, classique de la gastronomie française, nous est proposé avec des variantes fort alléchantes.

Dernière des nos visites pendant les Journées du Patrimoine 2010. Figurez-vous que même avec tous nos hôtels à côté, nous n’avions jamais visité l’Université de la Sorbonne. Les grande vitres nous suggéraient un grand espace, mais une fois à l’intérieur nous étions vraiment impressionnés…
