This is the last of our visits from the 2010 Open House weekend. Despite having all our hotels in the area, can you believe that we’d never actually visited the Sorbonne itself? Crazy. We’d seen the huge windows from the outside, but nothing could prepare us for the amazing sights inside…

You’d think that having a hotel called the Hôtel Design Sorbonne we would know the actual Sorbonne by heart. After all, it is just opposite! Yet, for some strange reason we had never got round actually going in… until the recent Open House weekend, practically the only time that the general public is actually allowed to see inside. The visit is pretty thorough, with a variety of grand rooms to see, including the huge vaulted entrance, giant double staircase, huge amphitheatre, and the impressive courtyard. All those hidden wonders just a few metres from us!
