Photo d’Hôtel, Photo d’Auteur 2011 – all our articles

As you may well know our photo project has a French name that’s not easy for English-speakers to get their tongues round, which is why we’ve also dubbed it “A Hotel Photo, An Artist’s View”, and even shortened the whole thing to PHPA, just to make things slightly less complicated for everybody. 😉

This year was great for the project, ongoing, as you know, with the inaugurations for the annual exhibition attracting a huge crowd, including a fair number of guests staying in the hotels (thanks!). The main prize was decided upon by a jury of industry professionals, the popular prize was voted for by the staff of our hotels, there was the carte blanche

And now that the first part of the exhibition is closing, the second part commences! Perhaps now’s a good time to give you a quick recap of all the articles we wrote this year, showing you the great photos on offer, as well as how much fun was had by all…It all started with articles about the cartes blanches from previous years, just as a sort of countdown to the event.

In 2007 it was helmed by Tatiana Margaux Bonhomme, Fréd Lebain did the honours in 2008, Combes & Renaud expressed themselves in 2009, and in 2010 the very lovely Patrick Tournebœuf (below) did us proud too.Dans le décor, monumentalNext, we showed you how the voting went the day before the exhibition (being careful not to give away the winner), the day of the private inauguration we announced that Graziella Antonini (below) had won the grand prize, and that the Virginie Clément prize voted for by the staff of our hotels had been given to Angela Svoronou (at the top of this post). And of course, let’s not forget this year’s wonderful carte blanche by Elene Usdin, not just the photos, but also the film, really cool!

Next, there were a couple of articles about the self-portraits taken in the photo studios at the inaugurations. Over 300 shots in all! You can see a selection here and here. And there were also the great paparazzi shots from par Caroline Fayette, who was designated official photographer to document the launch…Galerie Esther Woerdehoff - Paris - Caroline FayetteAnd finally, we allowed you to check out the smart 2011 PHPA catalogue on your very own computer screen (in case you can’t find a paper copy).

But there’s more! As previously mentioned, the exhibition continues at La Belle Juliette starting 3rd October, and runs until 15th December 2011!

You are free to come any day, at any time between 9am and 10pm. Entrance is of course free, and perhaps you’ll even be tempted to stay for lunch or afternoon tea in our garden?photo : JasonWEt le projet PHPA continue !

We’ve already started taking applications for Photo d’Hôtel, Photo d’Hôtel 2012 (you have until 10th November to send in your application), the photographers from 2011 have their galleries here, and the exhibition of their work in just under a year’s time is already being prepared!
