néon, who’s afraid of red, yellow and blue ?
an exhibition at the Maison Rouge
from 17th February – 20th May 2012

Art and Culture

It’s 100 years since neon was invented (by a French man, no less!), and contemporary artists have been using it in their work since the 1940, in an astonishing number of ways…

As the years have gone by, technology has added to the artistic possibilities of neon, first with colour and then animation.

This first large-scale international exhibition about neon contains 100 pieces of work from over 80 artists, including Tracey Emin, Jeff Koons, Claude Lévêque, François Morellet and Bruce Nauman.

For the exhibition, Rose Bakery culture – the exhibition space’s café – will be changing its décor and becoming ‘Times Bakery Square’, designed by be-attitude with furniture by Nicy Gallery.

A bilingual catalogue will also be published.
