Museum Night, Saturday 17th May 2014

It’s the only night of the year when all the city’s museums are open late (at least 11pm) with special events and – generally – free! Don’t miss European Museum Night!

Here are a few ideas…
nuitParis has some incredible museums, and getting to visit them for free is a privilege that you should make the most of.

You might like to swing by the Grand palais and see the Mapplethorpe exhibition or Bill Viola.

Alternatively, the Musée Cognac-Jay will be buzzing, with Djs all afternoon and evening (until 9pm) and talks about the secret mechanisms used in 18th century furniture (obviously you’ll need to be able to understand French).

Nearer our hotels, the little known Musée du Service de Santé des Armées au Val-de-Grâce is organising free guided visits of the not only the museum, but also the cloister and chapter house of the old royal abbey. Sounds interesting!

At the Musée Curiethere’ sa temporary exhibition of photos in the garden and a discovery trail for kids.

And of course there’s a lot lot more on offer about town, much too much to list here. For the full programme click here (and choose list mode to make things simpler).

By the way, if you get culture overdoes during the night and find yourself a bit peckish, food trucks will be all over town ready to serve you delicious burgers and whatnot. More info here.

The tenth annual Museum Night is being held in Paris (and all over France) on Sturday 17th May 2014
