The new stage show An American in Paris is being created here in Paris before sailing off to Broadway in 2015. It’s a world premiere!
Adapted from the famous film (which was not originally adapted from a stage show – most film musicals were at the time) expect a huge orchestra, breathtaking dancing and cracking songs.
Here’s all the info.
Although it’s adapted from the film, the stage version of An American in Paris isn’t a simple retelling – it modifies the story and brings it into the 21st century, keeping a lot of the orignal music along the way (you can’t just chuck out classic Gershwin, can you?), and English-speakers are the lucky one here – the show is in English with French surtitles.
And if you can’t make it to the show, tune into national radio station France Musique on 20th December where the show will be broadcast live at 8pm.
An American in Paris is at the Théâtre du Châtelet (here) from 22nd November 2014 – 4th January 2015
