Although not strictly speaking in the capital, the Festival de Cannes is a major event in both the French and global calendar.

The official poster for this year’s edition has just been revealed, and a minimalist affair it is too, with a beautiful photo of Ingrid Bergman (who would have been 100 this year) taken by David Seymour of the Magnum Agency (with whom we collaborated for part of our PHPA photo project!).

Here’s all the info about the festival, including the selection of films which will be programmed at the Forum des Images in Paris.
Ingrid Bergman was the President of the Jury la Présidente du Jury for the Cannes Film Festival in 1973, and this year the documentary Ingrid Bergman, In Her Own Words‏ is part of the official programme (in the Cannes Classics section).

As such, it seems fitting she should be the star of the official poster for this, the most important film festival in the world.

For the moment we know that the Cohen brothers will be joint presidents for the 2015 edition, but the other jury members have yet to be announced.

And if you want to see part of Cannes – the Directors’ Fortnight – without leaving Paris, our very own Forum des Images always picks up and shows the selection when the festival closes late May.

But for those that just have to go to Cannes to see it all for themselves (after having stayed with us, of course), may we just remind you that our hotels are two minutes from the direct train line to both airports!
