And as this gothic 13th century masterpiece is very close to our hotels, we went down to get a really good look. Here’s our photo report.
Started in 2008, restoration of the stained glass windows of Sainte-Chapelle was a delicate and highly technical operation, resulting in the seven sets of windows on the north side shining like new, with scenes clearer than ever.
With the spring sun illuminating them, as it did the day we went down, the effect is incredible, especially when you take the stairs up from the ground floor and arrive in this incredible space…

Sainte-Chapelle (here) is open every day of the week from 9.30am – 6pm (5pm from 1st November – 28th February), and 9pm on Wednesdays from 15th May – 15th September
You should also note that except in July in August, and even though the monument remains opens, there’s no entrance to the building between 1pm and 2.15pm
