The parade for the Chinese New Year in Paris
Sunday 5th February 2017

The year of the fire rooster has just started and Paris will be celebrating the event as usual with the grand parade (200,000 spectators) in the southeastern 13th arrondissement, not far from our hotels!

Here’s all the info.

The biggest event for Chinese new year in Paris is always the parade in the 13th arrondissement, also home to the city’s largest Chinese community.

It all kicks off at 1pm (from here), and although the route is now a little shorter than it used to be, all the restaurants and shops in the area will be buzzing. It’s a spectacular sigh and a moment of joy that’s well worth making the effort to go and see.

There are also a number of other cultural events programmed for Chinese new year. In the 13th there are film projections, an introduction to traditional Chinese medicine, a day to learn more about the Lantern festival and even a Cantonese opera!

And in the 3rd arrondissement, there are conferences, a special evening of New Year’s greeting for the community at the town hall, and above all, on the weekend of 4th/5th February, an Arts and culture festival at the Carreau du Temple with exhibitions, workshops (calligraphy, literature, martial arts…), shows of traditional clothing and dance shows.

Entrance is free too!
