Although non-French speakers might not know her, Dalida was a huge star in France in the 70s and 80s, both a singer and actress who passed into legend when depression tragically caused her to commit suicide.

This new exhibition takes a look at her wardrobe, the subject of a large new donation to Paris’ fashion museum, the Palais Galliera, by her brother.

A former Miss Egypt, Dalida is one of the stars of the 70s and 80s that France will never, ever forget. Even thirty years after her tragic death, her hits, her style and her fragility form an indelible legacy.

Recently, her brother Orlando donated here clothing to the Palais Galliera, allowing us to admire dresses by Yves Saint Laurent, Balmain and Jean-Claude Jitrois, a red bustier worthy of Hollywood and other creations that marvellously flattered her extraordinary physique.

The exhibition starts with the red velvet dress she famously wore at the Bobino music hall while singing one of her most memorable songs, Bambino, and goes on to show the evolution of her clothes over the years, no doubt influence by her ever-increasing fame, finishing in the 1980s with her many appearances on TV as even in film.

To accompany your visit, a free audioguide app is available in English for iOS and Android. The museum has also organised a number of different workshops (for kids, teenagers, families, people with handicaps…).
