Maurice Denis & Eugène Delacroix exhibition at the Delacroix Museum until 28th August 2017

Art and Culture, newsletter - eng

A new exhibition at the Delacroix Museum, very close to our hotels, is dedicated to painter Maurice Denis, a fervent and sincere admirer of Delacroix’s work, and far from the only one…

Here’s all the info.

Maurice Denis (1870-1943) was born after Delacroix had died, but the painter’s work and above all his letters and journal – published in 1893 – really inspired Denis.

He became president of the Society of Friends of Eugène Delacroix, played a pivotal role in saving Delecroix’s last workshop on place de Fürstenberg (that we visited for you) and it being transformed into a museum.

Works by Denis will be on display, as well as others by Cézanne, Matisse, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Fantin-Latour and many by Delacroix himself.

There will be a presentation of the exhibition by the museum’s manager in the louvre auditorium on 18th May at 12.30pm, and more details of all the other related activities can be found here (PDF).
