Sgt. Pepper’s Experience exhibition at the Maison de la Radio until 29th July 2017

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ craziest album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the Maison de la Radio has devised an ‘exhibition experience’ for you to learn all about what they call ‘the first 3D album’!

Here’s all the info.

Now here’s an exhibition that’s a little out of the ordinary!

In June 1967 the Beatles release their eighth album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and to celebrate its 50th birthday, the Maison de la Radio has really gone to town by creating quite the concept.

Visitors to their exhibition will enter in fab groups of four (geddit?), with the layout resembling a giant, interactive pop-up book dived into 10 themed chapters. Even the length of the visit is supposed to be the same as the length of the album!

You’ll learn more about the musical, social and political context of 1967, and the Beatles’ writing process. One chapter even allows you to remix the 4 tracks of two of songs in front of a recording studio window!
Exposition Sgt. Pepper's Experience à la Maison de la Radio jusqu'au 29 juillet 2017There’s also a display of other sleeves created by Peter Blake and Michael Cooper, the two behind the infamous Sgt. Pepper sleeve, and on the 21st June for the Fête de la Musique, radio station FIP has a special night planned:

— From 7-8pm, a special Beatles Jazzafip Club broadcasting live with a live audience.
— From 8-10p, Beatles cover band the Rabeats will be playing and broadcast live on FIP.

And for real fans of the album, it has just been re-released in a variety of formats, including a boxset that is as beautiful as it is expensive…
