Very close to our hotels, the Musée d’Orsay has a new crowd-pleasing exhibition on offer: Portraits by Cézanne.

Over his lifetime, Cézanne painted almost 200 portraits (many of him or his wife) and before the exhibition goes on tour to London and Washington, it’s in Paris that you can see many of them brought together for the first time!

Here’s all the info.
Exposition Portraits de Cézanne au Musée d'Orsay du 13 juin au 24 septembre 2017Presented chronologically, this new exhibition of Cézanne’s portraits is a rare chance to study the skills of an artist that Picasso called his « one and only master ».

The exhibition allows visitors to study the evolution of Cézanne’s style, with several pieces of particular interest, such as the remarkable portrait of Uncle Dominique from the 1860s.

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow has also lent a self-portrait of Cézanne that will have a special presentation next to another from 1875 belonging to the collection of the Musée d’Orsay.

Visit-conferences of the exhibition are available, including one in sign language, and a catalogue of the exhibition has just been published (256 pages, 160 illustrations, 39€ here at

Don’t miss this rare occasion to study Cézanne’s skills!
