Paris Plages – the 2017 Paris Beach Festival!
8th July – 3rd September 2017

Our favourite things

So this is the first year that the banks of the Seine on the Right Bank have been completely closed, and as this is the venue for Paris Plages it is spreading out more than ever before, lasting longer than usual with even more events organised (and some brand new amenities!).

Here’s all the info.

Paris Plages is always a great part of the Parisian summer – without leaving town you can enjoy the beach (specially shipped in) and take part is numerous activities, all of which are free.

While the two main sites are the same every year, the size and scope of the event have increased this year.
Paris Plages 2017 du 8 juillet au 3 septembre 2017On the banks of the Seine near our hotels, you can:

– see some photos of the Dalida exhibition at the Palais Galliera
– learn first aid with the Protection Civile and French Red Cross
– explore the theme of ‘the body in movement’ with staff from the Louvre
– give blood and perhaps save someone’s life
– see thousands of different views of Paris in the Air France exhibition
– have your beard trimmed by the mobile barber Big Moustache
– show your kids how easy it is to ride a bike, with 50 different-sized bikes available to try
– and do some sport – Swedish gym, boxing, wrestling…

Paris Plages 2017 du 8 juillet au 3 septembre 2017On the Bassin de la Villette in the northeast of the city, the big news is that this year three free swimming areas are available using water from the canal! And there’s also:

– water rollers and pedal boats
– rowing, sailing and canoeing
– a photo studio called ‘clichés urbains‘ with 70s costumes and accessories!
– comics and books to read
– yoga and other ‘energetic arts’ to get your day off to a good start
– digital workshops for kids
– a zipline, merry-go-round, are for playing ‘boules’…

Paris Plages 2017 du 8 juillet au 3 septembre 2017The bassin de la Villette is also where you can get on board for one of the cruises that are part of the Summer Canal Festival. Plenty to do then at Paris Plages this year!

For the dates and times of all the activities, check out the official website.

Paris Plages 2017 runs from 8th July – 3rd September 2017
