Two new exhibitions about Goscinny,
the creator of Astérix, Lucky Luke and more!

The Musée d’art et d’histoire du Judaïsme and the Cinémathèque française both pay homage to René Goscinny, who died almost exactly forty years ago.

Here’s all the info.
Two new exhibitions about Goscinny, the creator of Astérix, Lucky Luke and more!René Goscinny left us in November 1977 at the age of just 51, but his creations continue to have success, both as comics and films.

The Musée d’art et d’histoire du Judaïsme opens its exhibition René Goscinny – Au-delà du rire on 27th September 2017 (which runs until 4th March 2018) in partnership with the Institut René Goscinny.

Apparently this is the first retrospective dedicated to the co-creator of Astérix and Lucky Luke, with over 200 pieces on show, many of which have never been seen before.

To learn more about the man, you can take part in a guided visit, a walk around the suburb of Bobigny to discover where Uderzo & Goscinny (the team behind Astérix) hung out, a conference will explain Why “Goscinny is France”, there are workshops, meet ‘n’ greets, a showing of the film Asterix & Cleopatra and a catalogue of the exhibition (240 pages, 35€ here at amazon.fr).

All the info you need about the exhibition is here.
Two new exhibitions about Goscinny, the creator of Astérix, Lucky Luke and more!At the Cinémathèque française, the exhibition Goscinny and cinema from 4th October 2017 – 4th March 2018 shows how Goscinny was inspired by all the film he went to see, incorporating elements of westerns and musicals into his cartoons.

His creations also quickly became successful enough to be turned into movies themselves, and have continued to be successful to this day.

The exhibition is accompanied by showings of the films using his characters, as well as a dozen westerns that had an influence on Lucky Luke, and eleven films featuring Cleopatra.

There are also workshops/visits for kids, meet ‘n’ greets, conferences and catalogue of the exhibition (224 pages, 39€ here at amazon.fr).
