Degas Danse Dessin exhibition
at the Musée d’Orsay until 25th February 2018

Art and Culture

Exactly a hundred years after his death, the Musée d’Orsay – near our hotels – pays homage to Edgar Degas with the help of a 1937 book by Degas’ pal – writer and poet Paul Valéry – called Degas Danse Dessin.

Here’s all the info.

Degas and Valéry were friends for over twenty years, and the exhibition inspired by Valéry’s book explores its themes by juxtaposing excerpts of his text with drawings, paintings and sculptures by Degas.

The two artists had in common a search for the perfect line and shared a feel for movement, as will become evident through the drawings and archives on display.

A catalogue of te exhibition is also available (256 pages, 35€ here at amazon.fr) and superfans can purchase a faithful reproduction of the original 172-page book Degas Danse Dessin for 250€ here. 😳
