The Natural History Museum
opens a virtual reality room!

The Natural History Museum close to our hotels is no ordinary museum, proved once again with the opening of their new virtual reality room where you can journey into the heart of Evolution!

Here’s all the info.

VR is definitely fashionable right now, and after two years in development with the aid of the Fondation Orange, the virtual experience Journey into the heart of Evolution is in place at the Natural History Museum!

Situated on the third floor, this is the first permanent virtual reality room in a French museum. You’ll be able to don your VR headset to discover the tree of life and the 459 different species in it while also exploring the links between them all.

A 3D gallery also allows visitors (voyagers?) to take a close-up view of 26 species in life-size 3D!
Up to five people (aged 12 or over) can participate in this virtual voyage at the same time. Each ‘visit’ takes around 30 minutes, fifteen of which are spent wearing the virtual reality tools. An assistant from the museum is on hand to help users if need be.

The experience is also available if you have a virtual reality setup at home!

The resources can be downloaded free already on Viveport, and will soon be available on Steam, the Orange VR experience, Oculus Rift and Gear VR.
