Loupot, the poster painter
at the Fourney Library
23rd January – 26th May 2018

If your image of France dates back to the heydays of the 1950s and 1960s, this exhibition is for you.

The Fourney Library in the Marais (which was recently renovated and has its own dedicated exhibition space) has a new exhibition about the work of poster creator and graphic artist Charles Loupot, whose style and work practically defined the image of certain brands, and whose influence is still felt (and worshipped) to this day.

Here’s all the info.
Exposition Loupot, peintre en affiche à la Bibliothèque Fourney du 23 janvier au 26 mai 2018 With his art déco style (that he helped define), French artist Charles Loupot left us with many iconic images that remind us of France’s glory days.

After starting his career in 1913, he moved to Paris in 1925 ans started what was probably his most prolific, successful and influential period, during which he created some truly amazing posters, many of the veritable paintings.

In all, his career was to span fifty years, during which he ceaselessly reinvented his style and forged trends in graphic arts unlike anyone before him.

If you want to learn more, there are four conferences which may help (if you speak good French). Otherwise, you can take some of Loupot’s work home with you by buying the 200-page catalogue which costs just  18€!Exposition Loupot, peintre en affiche à la Bibliothèque Fourney du 23 janvier au 26 mai 2018 The exhibition Loupot, peintre en affiche is at the Bibliothèque Forney (here) from 23rd January – 26th May 2018
