The Paris Summer Canal Festival until 26th August 2018

Here comes perhaps the coolest event of the Parisian summer – the Summer Canal Festival!

Every weekend, there are shuttle boats for 1€ and themed cruises on the canal in the northeast of Paris, with special events all along the way – concerts, DJ mixes, guided tours, workshops, water sports…

The sheer number of things on offer for the Paris Summer Canal Festival is dizzying, with something for every member of the family.

First of all, you can take a boat from the Bassin de la Villette out of the city for 1€ (or 2€ on Sundays), smoothly navigating down the Ourq Canal towards the suburb of Bondy, with several stops along the way. Last year, 41,000 people took the trip!

Boats leave every 30 minutes or so between midday and 7.30pm (try taking one between midday and 3pm if you’re looking for calm).

More info on the shuttle boats here.

Many themed cruises are also on offer – with brunch, music, food or street-art, and even one where you can bring your bicycle and discover the Poudrerie park and forest before taking the train back to Paris or cycling back on the cycle paths.

You could also do the journey in the opposite direction, cycling out and taking the boat back.

And let’s not forget the food cruises that filly your stomach before leaving you at la Villette just in time for that evening’s film in the open air.

All the info on the various cruises can be found here.

And there’s a lot more on:

– a walk through the trendy suburb of Pantin, or a commented cruise between Paris and Pantin
– a commented cruise from Paris to Bondy and back, followed by brunch at the Point Éphémère
– a commented cruise showing off a specially commissioned 10km stretch of street art…

All the info can be found here.

But wait, there’s more!

water sports in Bobigny
concerts and balls
workshops for gardening, cooking,  jardinage, cuisine, silkscreen printing…

… and more besides. Click here for the full programme!
