The photo version of the FIAC is back – Paris Photo, the biggest photo fair of the year is filling up the Grand Palais with 168 galleries and 31 book publishers…

It’s an essential event for anyone who likes photography – the 22nd edition of Paris Photo is so big now, it inspires other, less prestigious events that are held on the same dates (like Fotofever at the Carrousel du Louvre, and the Salon de la Photo at Porte de Versailles…)

The fair not only lets specialised galleries from around the world show their wares (like our friends from the la Galerie Esther Woerdehoff) but also organises a host of events related to photography:

– a special section for large-scale photos – called PRISMES – in the upstairs Salon d’Honneur

– a number of photography-related films at the MK2 Grand Palais cinema (free, but limited seats)

– a new area, Curiosa, which will concentrate on a particular theme each year (this year, it’s the body and eroticism)

– a selection of around a hundred photos called Elles X Paris Photo, all taken by female artists
There’s also:

– the Paris Photo Photobook Awards

– conferences (ou artist talks) in English or French (depending on the day/time)

– book signings (William Klein, Sarah Moon, Raymond Depardon…)

– an exhibition in the Gare du Nord train station…
