Presenting Pedro Santiago Ugarte, manager of the Hotel Design Sorbonne, who tells us how he came to work at the hotel…

Originally from Madrid, my university studies and first professional experiences were both related to customer service and the tourism trade.

It was while studying and working in France, Finland and the USA that I had the pleasure of discovering different languages, cultures and approaches to life, all of which made me understand the motivation for our industry – give guests the best welcome possible and make them feel completely at home during their stay!

I was lucky enough to start my professional career in the hotel trade as a receptionist during the summer seaosn in France. Once I had finished my studies, I went to the USA to work as head of reception in a 600-room hotel in Washington DC, where my vision of the industry continued to widen.

Back in Europe, and after having worked in another large hotel in Madrid, I came to Paris in 2014, where I was incredibly lucky to work in a perfect little group with the same vision of the hotel trade as me, and in the most beautiful city in the world!!
