For their Spectacular Spectacular Christmas, the main Galeries Lafayette department store on boulevard Haussmann has gone all out!

After last year’s all-white glacial decor, this year’s giant Christmas tree is about as colourful as you can get, and there’s a lot more to see once your arrive…

It has to be said that the Christmas tree at Galeries Lafayette this year is one of the most successful they’ve ever done.

When you arrive at the store, you may see it just quietly turning in the huge space under the dome, but every ten minutes a host of inflatable, glittery forms start dancing up and down, and it really is a sight to behold.

As you may have realised, Christmas at Galeries Lafayette is a big deal, and there’s a lot more to it than just a tree.

For starters, a virtual reality experience awaits you on the 2nd floor of the main store, with VR goggles, moving seats, wind fans and immersive sound. For 2½ minutes, you’ll be riding the Roller Coaster!

And each weekend, the department store has special events on offer for you:

–carol singers will be wandering through the three stores between 3 and 6pm,
– a tarot card reader awaits on the fourth floor of the main store to tell your fortune,
– a magician on the 3rd floor of the men’s store,
– don’t miss the temporary tattoo workshop on the 3rd floor of the main building, and
– a calligrapher and artists on the 6th floor can help personalise your gifts!
Once you’ve finished shopping (or perhaps for a mid-shopping break), go up to the roof, admire the great view of the Opera and have a drink at the Ice Cube bar…

…and when you finally leave, you can even customise the Christmas lights on boulevard Haussmann using the #playHaussmann app!
