Situated in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Hotel Baume transports its guests back to the 1930s with its Art Deco interior.

The design of the 35 rooms is inspired by this period and is explored through five themes: fashion, cinema, jewellery, architecture and the clubs of the 1930s.

The Art Deco movement was known for its simplified, aesthetic forms, brightly-coloured stylised motifs and geometric shapes using noble materials such as metal, wood, glass and even ivory… It was a time of extravagance, elegance and chic!

Inspired by the ‘années folles’ and festive atmosphere of the era, the Hotel Baume pays beautiful homage to the parties, clubs, fashion, jazz, cinema and ‘art de vivre’ of the time!

The lobby of the Hotel Baume gives Art Deco a contemporary twist. This saffron-tinged space transports its guests into the heart of the 1930s. The bright yellow, crystal light fittings, aniseed-coloured velvet of the sofas and fuchsia cushions give the hall and its salons the look of a citrus sweet.

It also references some elements used in the interior design of the 35 rooms, such as the Macassar also seen in the club-inspired rooms, the lighting inspired by jewellery, the fuchsia of the cinema-themed rooms…

Inspired by the atmosphere of the ‘années folles’, the interior design of each room uses elements of the era:

– The small tables were designed by Eileen Gray in 1928.
– The droplet light fittings are reminiscent of the pearls and necklaces of the 1930s.
– The engravings from the maison Pernet ‘1932’ collection by Madame Jeannest are displayed on certain walls.
– The small Art Deco side tables with ‘wave’ legs are typical of the period.
– Wood is very present, as is glass, metal and gold.
– Certain lamps are inspired by the ‘bibi’ hats and others of the era.

At the Baume, each object and design element has been chosen with care. The droplet light fittings, the moiré and shagreen fabrics, the frills and pearls of the lamps, the bedheads adorned with majestic mirrors… all give each room its atmosphere of refined , mixing beauty and elegance.
