Recently we’ve added two apartments to our site, available for short term rental. Some people like being in a hotel and having all the services that go with it, others prefer the feeling of a real home and their own kitchen. Now you can take your pick!

The new apartment, available for stays of between 3 and 14 nights, is a little designer gem on the rue de Montmorency in the Marais area (click here to see it on the map. It’s situated just by the Pompidou Centre). After three months of work, the place has been completely transformed.

With just 18m², the challenge was to fit everything in and yet give the impression of space. We wanted it to feel cosy, comforting, with luxurious touches like the designer wallpaper and a high-quality Italian sofabed specially destined for everyday use (there’s nothing worth than sleeping badly on a poor sofabed). In the main room there’s a 5.1 surround Home Cinema System for films and music, an iPod dock, Internet via free wi-fi and around 100 channels to watch on the HD Ready flatscreen TV.

Large cupboards on each side of the couch allow you to tuck everything out of the way, leaving the maximum amount of room possible.

In the kitchen, the mood changes. From the period parquet of the living room we go to specially-designed Spanish cement tiles that create a strong colourful graphic element to liven up the black lacquer that dominates. The work surface is black waxed concrete, there’s an induction hob, hidden refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee- and tea-making facilities and all you need to cook a light meal (apart from the food!). Although it’s tucked into the entrance of the apartment, you don’t feel squashed, especially as there’ s giant-size picture of a mountain range to add a bit of kitsch!

The bathroom is behind a huge pane of frosted glass. Tiled white (the same tiles as you find in the Paris metro) with touches of stainless steel, the colourful cement tiles carry on into the room. Upon entering, the light turns on automatically and the towel warmer keeps the room at a comfortable temperature. The designer shower gleams and the Italian sink has a slight air of the 70s about it. Thanks to the large window it’s a bright and airy room. A maximum amount of comfort in a minimum amount of space!

Here’s the films of the guided tour (2 minutes) to give you a better idea of the space.

 And here’s the slideshow.

The sun is coming back to Paris, and no one likes stay at home front of a computer. Given the choice, everybody would prefer to pass some time outdoors in the sunshine rather than surf the web at home.

So here’s some good news; the Paris city council has recently decided to offer free wireless internet access outdoors.
Paris will soon have 400 hotspots in 250 public places.
The 5th arrondissement will have quite a few hotspots, so you will be able to surf the web while getting some sun on the Place du Pantheon, the Place de la Contrescarpe or at the Arènes de Lutèce.
Towns halls, museums and libraries will also be equipped with the new internet system, so make sure you have your laptop with you!
Access should be available from June.

Where will you be able to surf the Web in Paris?

During 3 days, the place du Pantheon will be converted into a real garden, and you’ll have the opportunity to pick one of 40 000 daffodils.

Each flower will cost you 2€, and all money will use to finance research against cancer.

With a lawn, deckchair, and maybe even sunshine, the Place du Pantheon will give an early taste of spring !

Note that Pierre and Marie Curie’s remains have been in The Pantheon since 1995.

So come down and make a cash donation to the Curie Institute the 16th, 17th and 18th March of 2007, from 10am to 8pm.

Walking one Wednesday morning in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, I discovered the Place Monge farmers market for the first time.

It was 10am, and looking down rue Monge I saw movement and a crowd of people. As I’m curious, I wanted to know what was going on. It turned out to be the Place Monge farmers market! There were many different merchants present with their stands. The atmosphere was really good…

Stand of spices

You will find a large choice of typical French products such as fruit, vegetables, cheese and wine, that could all contribute to an excellent lunch.

Come and discover it in the heart of Paris: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, 7am to 1pm.
The Place Monge farmers market is near the apartment we have to rent through our site.
