Picnic Shopping

Follow the left bank east along the side of the Seine, under the bridges, past the boats moored on the Seine, and their flowers… …until you're opposite the Ile Saint Louis, right on the edge of the Seine, where the view is exceptional, even if the comfort is not. How about somewhere a little softer?… A little further along is the Outdoors Museum Of Sculpture. Some decent patches of grass near the sculpture by Erwin Patkai, and even a table tennis table (don't forget your bats and balls). Just a few more steps will lead you to a sort of amphitheatre on the edge of the river. Here, you might run into an African drummer, a guitar-player or people dancing a tango. Why not stop eating for a second, take in the view, and steal a delicious kiss from your beloved? The round, red statue of Martha marks the last decent picnic spot. Make your mind up quickly which spot you prefer; space is limited and you're not the only ones out for a picninc! And afterwards? There's the Batobus for a journey on the river, the nearby Jardin Des Plantes and its zoo, or an exhibition at the Arab World Institute to tempt you. Even simpler, sit down with a book you've bought from one of the 'bouquinistes' and just people-watch; it's a great Parisian tradition…
