Coming to Paris to celebrate Paddy's day ?
The future saint Patrick was born in the Roman United Kingdom around 385.
Kidnapped by Irish pirates at the age of 16, he will remain their prisoner for 6 years. After having returned to France, he will spend some time in Great Britain before returning once again to France to be ordained deacon then bishop by Saint Germain of Auxerre.
It is the Célestin pope who sent him to Ireland.
After having evangelized Ireland from 432, he will die on March 17 461.
The legend says that holy Patrick drove all the snakes from Ireland. In Ireland, the Christianization carried out by Saint Patrick was fast, spectacular and massive.
The majority of the Irish kings were converted and were imitated by their tribes.
Christianity adapted to the celtism and vice versa. With regards to Christianity of the continent which disappeared with the fall of the Roman empire and diseases, Irish Christians
Christianized the British Isles then the north of France at the end of 6th century.
While Christianizing Ireland, Patrick brought writing to the Celtic people. It is thus in the centuries which followed, that were written the famous Celtic legends told during of the centuries by the bards, legends of Tristan and Yseult, king Arthur, etc.
