Fête de Ganesh in Paris on September 2nd 2007
:: Hotels Paris Rive Gauche: our favourite things
You may have seen our photos from previous years, so don't miss the 12th annual Fête de Ganesh in Paris this year on 2nd September.
High on colour and spectacle (the coconut smashing really has to be seen), a religious ceremony at the Sri Manicka Vinayakar Alayam temple at 9am is followed by a parade that lasts from 11am to 3pm.
One of the best viewpoints is on the rue Faubourg Saint Denis not far from the métro station La Chapelle.
Free food is often given out (to offer to Ganesh) and there's a new five-headed statue of the man/elephant (!) himself to look out for.
