The Silence of the Bees - a bee movie with a difference
:: Hotels Paris Rive Gauche: our favourite things
It may not surprise you to hear that we think Paris has everything, especially from a cultural point of view. A varied selection of films to see at the cinema, magnificent theatres and opera houses, and wonderful museums - especially museums where you can learn without getting bored. La Géode is a giant cinema inside a silver globe that is part of the science museum at La Villette, a huge site that also includes other exhibition spaces, a great park, concert halls...). This is what it looks like...

It's quite a mad building, and the projection screen inside is enormous, perfect for short documentaries about nature and similar IMAX films. The current cycle of films is called Planète Géode, a collection of IMAX documentaries about the earth, but there are also some special event, such as a screening of Silence of the Bees - an IMAX world premiere - about the slow disappearance of bees all over the planet.

As you probably know, we have bees on the roof of the Eiffel Park Hotel (the honey is served at breakfast and we also sell little pots that you can take home with you), so we are particularly interested in the plight of the bees. The film will be shown at 8.30pm on Friday 8th February, but you can get a quick preview here. Be sure to check out the rest of the films on offer at the Géode too. There's some great stuff available...
Here's all the essential information for the Géode at La Villette
Where: 26, avenue Corentin-Cariou, Paris 19th arrondissement. Métro Porte de la Villette (line 7). Bus n°s PC2, PC3, 75, 139, 150, 152, 249
Film schedule: check here
Admission price: insanely complicated pricing system (but generally around 10 euros). Click here and see if you can understand it!
