OK, I enjoyed Lord of the Rings. Quite a lot actually. But some people REALLY REALLY LOVED it. Some people are fanatical about Heroic Fantasy in general and Tolkein's works in particular. Theses people (not me) will be down at the Arludik Gallery in Paris on 17th April to meet one of their heroes, revered artist and contributor to Lord of the Rings, John Howe.
Howe will be holding one of his magic pens and signing copies of his new book Fantasy Art in which he explains in detail his method of approach for drawing and painting Heroic Fantasy.
His fanatical followers will also be able to appreciate the exhibition of nearly forty of his drawings that the gallery - specialised in original artwork from movies, comics, mangas and video games - is hosting from 16th April - 17th May 2008. If you're a real fan, you are so there.
Galerie Arludik is at 12-14 rue Saint-Louis en l'Île, Paris 4th arrondissement, métro Pont Marie or Sully-Morland (line 7). They are open Tuesday - Saturday, 2-7pm. The signing session is on Thursday 17th April 2008 from 6.30-9.30pm. More information on their official site.
Here's the many himself being interviewed last year in Switzerland. He speaks perfect French!
