(13th & 14th July)

Our favourite things

The proper way to celebrate Bastille day in Paris is with firemen! Special parties are organised in a selection of fire stations around the city on 13th and 14th July, and we have the complete list with opening hours and indications of how to get there.

So here’s our list of the Paris firemen’s balls for 2015!

Three out-of-the-ordinary events around Bastille Day 2015

Our favourite things

Se we know all about the firemen’s balls, the military parade and the firework display at the Eiffel Tower, but there are also a few other events happening around Bastille Day that might be worth checking out.

For example, there’s a concert of military songs, a mass for France at Invalides and the Foreign Legion in the gardens of the Senate! And all that just a few minutes from our hotels! Here’s all the info.

The 2015 Bastille Day military parade
on the Champs-Elysées

Our favourite things

This year has been a tough one for the French army both outside the country and at home, with terrorist threats, conflicts abroad and – believe it or not – many soldiers involved in fighting Ebola.

All of which explains why this year’s military parade will be slightly shorter than usual – many of the troops are busy elsewhere!

Here’s all the info.

Our favourite things

Before the 2015 Bastille Day fireworks display at 11pm, don’t miss the third annual Concert de Paris at the Eiffel Tower with the Orchestre National de France which starts at 9.15pm.

Here’s all the info.

The 2015 Bastille Day firework display at the Eiffel Tower

Our favourite things

For many (including the half a million people who go to see it) this is the biggest unmissable event of Bastille Day in Paris – the incredible firework display at the Eiffel Tower, and this year the theme is “Paris welcomes the world”.

There’s only one big firework display like this every year (there’s no longer a New Year’s Eve firework display) so don’t miss it! Here are all the details of the show, start time and how to get there.

The 2014 14th July concert at the Eiffel Tower

A Parisian experience

Just before the firework display (well, 90 minutes before), don’t miss the « Concert de Paris » at 9.30pm, with the Orchestre national de France performing a show on the theme of War and Peace, taking in everything from Carmen and Aida to Michel Legrand and Star Wars!

Here’s all the info.

14th July 2014 fireworks at the Eiffel Tower

A Parisian experience

Seeing the Bastille Day fireworks is actually more complicated than it sounds. You’ll probably have to wait for hours in a crowd until it starts at 11pm, and the show itself only lasts 35 minutes…

Anyway, here’s all the info.

Meet French soldiers after the military parade
on 14th July 2014

A Parisian experience

The 14th July is a great opportunity for the French army to sell itself to the people, so after having paraded 3,752 soldiers down the Champs Elysées, 1,200 of them will be posted at eight sites around Paris to chat with the public, the biggest being Invalides (not fare from our hotels).

Here’s all the info.
