Dominique Jumelle photo exhibition – Eau de là Série I
at La Belle Juliette from 6th May – 23rd June 2013
Dominique Jumelle was the first ever photographer to take part in our photo project PHPA (A Hotel Photo, An Artist’s View) in 2005. She lives and works in Bordeaux.
This series of new works is based around water. Together with the photo development agency Label Image, five brand new enlargements will be shown at La Belle Juliette, presented as diasec prints (100% plexiglas), chosen by the artists to increase the light and play on the transparency of water.
Dominique Jumelle was born in 1956 in Libourne. She now lives and works in Bordeaux. Self-taught, she has painted since the age of 10 years old, started taking photos in 1979, and has sculpted since 1982. She worked in several artist workshops and started her personal projects in 1993, cutting ‘heads’ into blocks of Plexiglas which are then photographed close up and enlarged on photo paper. This universe, part organic, natural and mineral, fascinated her, moving from the tiny to the huge. During the same period, she has taken colour photos of people, places and objects that come across her path, offering to show how their stories, senses and time can cross each other…
