If you thought Paris was just a sleepy city of beautiful architecture and dusty museums, you’re in for a shock. This bi-annual event is a mecca for cosplay fans, and your chance to meet Dave Prowse (the actor in the Darth Vador suit), sing some crazy karaoke, get your favourite manga signed by the author and generally have a pretty crazy day!

You may never have seen anything like it, so get ready for the 13th edition of Paris Manga, a mix of video games, J-pop, collectable figurines and goodies, actors from science fictions films and TV series, Japanese mangas, concerts, a zest of steampunk, a whiff of gothic and quite a few surprises in between.If you’ve never see cosplay before, you’ll either find it highly amusing or completely ridiculous, but much effort is made by those taking part, so be careful who you laugh at; some of them have unfeasibly large swords/guns…

The show attracts around 70,000 people for each edition, and with 240 stalls to check out, you’re sure to find something out of the ordinary to take home!

13the edition for this event that lets you visit some amazing spaces and see some truly startling work (in both the good and bad sense of the word).On the eastern edge of Paris is Montreuil, a suburb with the reputation of being a place with a fair amount of families, organic vegetarians and artists. The work can be of varying quality (to put it nicely), but it really doesn’t matter; there’s only one event like it in the city, and it’s only once a year, so get down there, if only to discover the great work and exhibition spaces they have on offer, the interior gardens and the slightly eccentric atmosphere!

With so much to see, this interactive map might come in handy (click on ‘portes ouvertes’ in the left column), and a system of free taxis will be in place to help you get to some of the further flung places. Handy!

Most workshops are open from 2-8pm, but have a look at the programme below to double check the times for the place you’re headed.The artist workshop open days in Montreuil are from 14th – 17th October 2011, 2-8pm

Beaucoup plus roots que Yves Saint Laurent, la photographe Nan Goldin met une quarantaine d’articles de son appartement Parisien aux enchères chez Christie’s, dont cinq de ses photos…


On dirait que Nan Goldin déménage de son appartement rue Oberkampf ; 36 lots sont à prendre le 7 avril 2009 ; des meubles anciens, des animaux naturalisés, des médaillons, des miroirs… Un vrai cabinet de curiosités vous attend. Vous pouvez même acquérir ‘son’ godemichet noir pour environ 300 €. De quoi animer des dîners mondains !

Sinon, prévoyez quelques milliers d’euros pour chaque lot, et même 5.000 euros pour une photo. Sachez par contre que le lot le plus cher risque d’être ces agneaux siamois naturalisés (environ 6.000 euros). Ça donne des frissons !

Tous les lots peuvent être consultés sur le site de Christie’s ici. L’enchère à lieu le mardi 7 avril chez Christie’s au 9 avenue Matignon (métro Franklin D. Roosevelt, lignes 1 & 9) à 13h, 14h et 18h, mais vous pouvez aller voir les lots (gratuitement) le 4 et 6 avril 2009 de 10h à 18h et le 5 avril de 14h à 18h.
