For those of you who can’t make it to Paris this Xmas (has to be seen to be believed), we went down to the main department stores (at 11pm so as not to be crushed by shoppers or deafened by children) to take photos of their famous, traditional animated window displays. Xmas 2009 in Paris : Paris on Ice,
with giant (free!) outdoor skating rinks!
So, goodbye tiny ice rink stuck out in the 13th arrondissement that no-one went to! This year Paris boasts just 2 outdoor rinks for the holiday period, so you’ll need to get down to Hôtel de Ville or Montparnasse if you want to try out your skating skills.

Few things in the world are prettier than the Champs Élysées illuminated at Xmas time. This year, French actress/singer (and son of Serge) Charlotte Gainsbourg will be pressing the ‘ON’ button on Monday 23rd November à 6.30pm, and there’s something new about the lights this year…
